Serving in Firenze - Shelby Shackelford
I would love to schedule a time to meet with you to discuss the open doors God has given me for ministry in Florence, Italy. My Italian visa appointment is on January 6. The rest of January, I will be meeting with friends and family and raising prayer and financial support before heading back to Italy in February. I have so much joy and peace about this next step in my journey, and too many stories to simply type on a website. God surprised me because I was not looking to move to Italy, least-of-all a tourist destination such as Florence (He knows I’m willing to go anywhere). He has opened my eyes to the great need and immense opportunities here. God is moving in Italy! As people come from every corner of the globe to study, explore, and live in Florence, He is going to shine His light upon their hearts and use Jesus-followers who are willing and open to share the gospel in this beautiful city. I am thankful to be serving in Italy through the All Nations organization and will be receiving their coaching, ongoing training, pastoral care, and more.
Mission Statement: My mission is to worship God and serve Him in being a disciple-maker. I seek to mobilize believers to join God’s heart in seeing all people’s knowing and worshipping Him, while caring for and strengthening my brothers and sisters - the body of Christ.
Specifics:
PRAYER Ministry
-cover ministry and the city of Florence in prayer
-invite believers to join in prayer/worship times and train in prayer-walking
-pray “into existence” unity movements amongst believers and open doors
OUTREACH + DISCIPLESHIP Opportunities
-reaching out to internationals and locals, following up to start Discovery Bible Studies and have “salty” conversations (salty=Jesus conversations, with connections I’ve made with Italians, Algerians, Japanese, Chinese, Sri Lankans, etc.).
-discipling missionary kids and other youth
-serving alongside Mosaico International Church
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES …as God Leads
These opportunities may not start immediately but are on my radar and prayer focus for the future.
-Hosting global workers from other countries (whether they need a quick visa-run, a fun break, respite care, etc.).
-Hosting/leading discipleship training workshops
-Ukrainian refugee outreach (and other refugee/immigrant groups)
-Women’s trauma healing ministry groups
